The First Revelation
The revelation on the Holy Prophet ﷺ started at the Cave Hira. The Cave Hira is situated at a distance of nearly 5 kilometers from Makkah. This cave is situated in a mountain named Jabel Noor. The Holy Prophet ﷺ used to go to the Cave Hira. He ﷺ used to take food items with him and worshipped Allah Almighty in solitude. The Holy Prophet ﷺ used to stay for the full month of Ramadan in the Cave.

When the Angel Gabriel علیہ السلام came, the Holy Prophet ﷺ was busy in worship. Angel Gabriel علیہ السلام said to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ‘Iqra’ meaning read. Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ replied: I cannot read, Hazrat Gabriel (A.S) then embraced him and after releasing said; Irqa. Hazrat Muhammad’s ﷺ answer was the same as before. Hazrat Gabriel علیہ السلام comprised Holy Prophet ﷺ and repeated the word ‘Iqra’. Hazrat Muhammad’s ﷺ answer was the once again the same as before. Hazrat Gabriel (A.S) embraced for the third time, asked him to repeat after him and said. “Read with the name of you Lord who created man from a clot of blood. Read, and your Lord is most Gracious, who imparted knowledge by means of the pen. He taught man what he did not know. “Thus the Holy Prophet ﷺ received the first revelation”.
At
the time of the first revelation, the heart of the Holy Prophet ﷺ started throbbing fast. After
this incident, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
became worried and fearful. He ﷺ left Cave Hira and returned from the Cave’s Hira after first revelation. He ﷺ was deeply shocked and with fear. Hazrat Khadija
رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا comforted
him ﷺ. He ﷺ went to bed and asked
his wife Hazrat Khadija رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا to cover him.
Hazrat Khadija رضی
اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا said; Allah will never disgrace you. You maintain good relations with your kins,
you bear the burden of the week, you help the poor and the needy, serve your
guests generously, and assist those who are afflicted by calamity.
After the hearing what
happened in Cave, Waraqa ibn Nawal immediately knows the truth. Waraqa ibn Nawfal told Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ
that the being who came was the Angel of Revelation who was also sent by
Allah Almighty to Prophet Musa علیہ السلام . Waraqa ibn Nawal warned the about the future. He
then added People will call you a liar; they will threat you badly.’ They will
wage a war against you and drive you out of this city. I wish If I live to see
those days, I will help you when your
people will drive you out.
Waraqa Ibn Nawfal was the
cousin the Hazrat Khadija رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا . He was a
very learned man who had studies the Bible and Taurat. He was a Christian
Scholar and well versed in the Holy Bible and Taurat. He was knew the Hebrew language.
He promised that if he was alive during that time, he would support the Prophet ﷺ strongly.
He was very old and blind by this time. However, he passed away shortly after this
meeting. Before the Holy Prophet began
his public preaching. He was the first person to confirm Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ a Prophethood.
